Integrate Cookiebot CMP with Umbraco to gain insights into your website’s cookie setup, scan information, opt in statistics and actions required to ensure full data privacy compliance.

Prepare your Cookiebot CMP account

First step is to log into your Cookiebot CMP account and create an API key here to be used to link this account to your Umbraco account. (Please note that currently the API is not available through the navigation panel, but must be accessed via the link above.)

Check the box to mark the Dashboard API and choose a name for the credential setup – You are free to name it to what you want.

Once created you will see this:

Please store your client secret somewhere, it will not be accessible once you leave the window.
You will need to use the client secret in the steps to come.

Install the Cookiebot CMP Dashboard in Umbraco.

Log into the Umbraco platform and navigate to Packages.

Here you have two options to install the Dashboard. You can use the search option to search for us click our app and install it, or you can download the package from this page , click “Install local” in the top right corner of the packages overview in Umbraco, and upload the package yourself.

Once installed you will see the following overview:

Click “Set credentials” to configure your Cookiebot CMP – Umbraco integration. You will now need the client ID and client secret from the API setup in your Cookiebot CMP account. (See first part of this guide)

Once confirmed, your Cookiebot CMP account and your Umbraco account will be linked.

Using Umbraco – Cookiebot dashboard

In Umbraco you will now find the Cookiebot CMP dashboard under “Cookiebot” where each of your domains will be listed.

For each domain you will be able to see the following:

Cookiebot Umbraco dashboard, CookieInfo

Use the “Manage” button in the top right corner to go directly to your Cookiebot CMP account.

In the section ‘Actions required’ you can see issues on your website currently preventing full data privacy compliance (note that this is not necessarily an exhaustive or definitive list but instead a system-generated indicator)

Opt-in rates per category will show you the percentages of users on your website opting in to the different categories on your Cookiebot CMP cookie banner, compared to opt outs. An opt out is considered a rejection of all categories except for “strictly necessary”.

The information window to the right holds details on the last scan performed on your website as well as your subscription size and the next scheduled scan. Remember that you can start a new unscheduled scan in your Cookiebot CMP account at any time, by logging in to your account, navigating to Cookies and clicking the scan now button.
